Celebrating America and Family
The city of Fishers, Indiana kicked off Fourth of July weekend with its annul Spark! Fishers festival. Hundreds of members from the community and visitors took part in the all day festivities. The festival celebrated America and gathered friends and family with events, activities, and food.
The day kicked off with a 5K run and walk and a farmers’ market. An all day street fair began later in the morning. Many local business and community members had booths set up. In the evening, the heart of Fishers Nickel Plate District, 116th street, was closed for a parade. To cap off the evening, a spectacular fireworks show was put on.
This event truly had something for everyone. For the kiddos, vendors were set up throughout Fishers Commons with games, prizes and activities. For music lovers, live bands performed in the evening on two stages. Those over 21 could enjoy craft beers from local breweries like Four Day Ray Brewing Company. A variety of food options were available, from classic street fair favorites like elephant ears to local favorites like Mathoos Egg Rolls.
Many people’s favorite parts of the day was the parade. From participants in the parade to those who crowded the streets to watch. Everyone enjoyed themselves from the crowd to those participating in it. Local businesses, schools, and the Fishers’ service men and women had a blast going through the streets.
Owner of The Pint Cycle, Chris Hutchinson said, “This was our favorite year in the parade out of the last three that we have participated in. We will definitely participate again next year and are excited to watch as this event grows each year. I think the Spark! Fishers event and parade are incredibly valuable for the community. It is just another example of how committed to the community the City of Fishers is. As a small business owner, I appreciate the fact that it allows local businesses the opportunity to be highlighted and recognized. The overall support from the community is really motivating and exciting to see.”
Ice cold beer, an all day street fair, family-friendly parade and a spectacular display of fireworks is the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day weekend! This event is sure to put a smile on your face!
